Los Angeles Chargers' quarterback Justin Herbert is currently dealing with an ankle injury sustained during Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. Despite the setback, head coach Jim Harbaugh remains optimistic that Herbert will be able to suit up for Week 3's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Coach Harbaugh addressed the media on Wednesday, stating that Herbert is actively working through the ankle issue. When asked about the possibility of Herbert missing the upcoming game, Harbaugh confidently replied, "Crystal ball? I expect him to [play] -- he's getting better every day."

Furthermore, Harbaugh revealed that Herbert's condition has improved since their meeting the previous night, with the quarterback reporting feeling much better and in good spirits. However, details regarding Herbert's level of participation in Wednesday's practice were not disclosed.

As the Chargers remain in Charlotte, North Carolina for the week before making their way to Pittsburgh for Sunday's game, Herbert's recovery is being closely monitored. The injury occurred during the third quarter of the team's dominant victory over the Panthers. While attempting to evade the pocket, Herbert found himself caught between a collision from both sides, causing his legs to become trapped under linebacker DJ Johnson.

Remarkably, Herbert did not miss a single snap despite limping visibly after the game. On Monday, Harbaugh provided reassurance, confirming that X-rays yielded no significant damage to Herbert's right leg.

In the event that Herbert is unable to start against the Steelers on Sunday, Harbaugh made it clear that Easton Stick would be the next man up, rather than Taylor Heinicke.

The Chargers and their fans will be eagerly awaiting further updates on Herbert's status as the game draws near. The young quarterback has been crucial to the team's success, and his presence on the field is highly anticipated.

Although the ankle injury poses some concern, it seems that Herbert's determination and resilience will likely see him back in action come Sunday.
