### CBS Teams Up with Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan for New Singing Competition

CBS is gearing up for a new venture into the world of singing competitions with the help of country music star Blake Shelton and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. The network has announced "The Road," a fresh singing competition series set to debut in the fall of 2025. This will mark CBS' return to talent competitions following "Come Dance With Me" in 2022, and the first music-centric series since the mid-2000s' "Rock Star."

"The Road" will feature aspiring singers accompanying a yet-to-be-revealed music star on tour, serving as the opening act. Contestants will strive to win over local audiences and secure their spot for the next city on the tour. The collaborative production includes MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Shelton's Lucky Horseshoe Productions, and key executive producers Shelton, Sheridan, Lee Metzger, and David Glasser.

Blake Shelton expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "I'm a big fan of Taylor's incredible work, and I'm excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on 'The Road.' I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it's like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I'm looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform."

Sheridan echoed Shelton's excitement and emphasized the authenticity of the show's format. "There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture. No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road - literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that."

Shelton is no stranger to singing competitions, having spent 23 seasons on NBC's The Voice before leaving the show in spring 2023. He has also worked with Metzger on USA Network's "Barmageddon." On the other hand, Sheridan has an impressive slate of projects including the Yellowstone franchise, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, Landman, CMT's "The Last Cowboy," and Paramount+'s docuseries "Willie Nelson & Family."

CBS' announcement came on the heels of Yellowstone returning to Paramount Network for the much-anticipated second half of its fifth season, adding to the excitement surrounding this new project.
