Bo Nix's progress during offseason training has been nothing short of impressive for the Denver Broncos. Despite the critics who doubted his potential, the Broncos saw the value in selecting Nix as the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

One of the main reasons the Broncos were intrigued by Nix was his extensive experience. Having played in 61 games during his college career at Oregon and Auburn, Nix's football IQ and quick learning abilities caught the attention of Broncos coach Sean Payton.

After just a week of participating in OTAs (Organized Team Activities), Nix has already left a positive impression on Coach Payton. He stated during a press conference, "He's farther along than most would be. We're talking about a player who's played 61 games. He's extremely smart. He's picked it up very quickly."

Nix finds himself in a quarterback battle with Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson for the QB1 position. Stidham took the helm for the last two games of the 2023 season, while Wilson is hoping to revitalize his career after being acquired through a trade with the New York Jets. All three quarterbacks are vying to replace the recently released Russell Wilson, who had a turbulent tenure with the Broncos.

Coach Payton acknowledged the unique circumstances surrounding this competition, referring to the quarterbacks as the "orphan group." With each of them coming from different backgrounds, Payton expressed that they are all in a race to learn the Broncos' system. However, he praised their progress, stating, "I would say... man, they're doing well."

Looking ahead, the battle for starting quarterback is likely to come down to Nix and Wilson as they enter training camp. As the team's first-round draft pick, Nix is viewed as the frontrunner and is expected to secure the Week 1 starting role, barring any setbacks or unforeseen circumstances.

The Broncos organization is excited about the potential that Bo Nix brings to the team. With his impressive performance during offseason training, Nix has proven that age is just a number and that experience can be a valuable asset on the football field. The quarterback battle will continue to unfold as training camp approaches, and fans eagerly anticipate the announcement of the Broncos' starting quarterback.
