**Avian Flu Detected at Hickman's Family Farms in Maricopa County**

Maricopa County, AZ - Poultry at a commercial farm in Maricopa County have tested positive for avian flu, as confirmed by the Arizona Department of Agriculture. The birds at Hickman's Family Farms began showing signs of the virus last week, which prompted immediate testing. The positive results were received on Tuesday.

Hickman’s Family Farms, the affected poultry farm, has been quarantined, and swift measures have been taken to eradicate the virus. Agricultural officials have reassured the public that eggs produced after the onset of the illness have not entered the food supply, and there have been no reported cases of avian flu in humans. Consumers can continue to trust the safety and quality of eggs and egg products.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the threat to the general public remains low. Those most at risk are individuals who are directly involved in the care of the birds.

This incident marks the second commercial farm in Maricopa County to test positive for avian flu this month. The identity of the second farm has not been confirmed by ABC15. Earlier this year, Hickman's Family Farms reported a significant loss of over one million egg-laying hens, which constituted 20% of its flock, due to the virus.

The situation continues to be monitored as efforts are made to ensure the virus is contained and eradicated.
