Taylor Swift has made history by surpassing Elvis Presley's record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart as a solo artist. With a total of 68 weeks at the top spot across all 13 of her chart-topping releases, Swift has cemented her status as one of the most successful musicians of all time.
Elvis Presley held the previous record with 67 weeks at No. 1, achieved through 10 chart-topping albums from 1956 to 2002. The only act to have spent more weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 is The Beatles, with an impressive 132 weeks across 19 No. 1 albums released between 1964 and 2001.
Swift's journey to dominance on the Billboard 200 began with her first No. 1 album, Fearless. Released in late 2008, Fearless spent a remarkable 11 weeks atop the chart. This success was followed by chart-toppers such as Speak Now (six weeks at No. 1, 2010-2011), Red (seven weeks, 2012-2013), 1989 (11 weeks, 2014-2015), Reputation (four weeks, 2017-2018), Lover (one week, 2019), Folklore (eight weeks, 2020-2021), Evermore (four weeks, 2020-2021), Fearless (Taylor's Version) (two weeks, 2021), Red (Taylor's Version) (one week, 2021), Midnights (six weeks, 2022-2023), Speak Now (Taylor's Version) (two weeks, 2023), and 1989 (Taylor's Version) (five weeks, 2023-2024).
The Billboard 200 chart ranks albums based on multi-metric consumption, including album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit is calculated as one album sale, 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or a certain number of ad-supported or paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
The new chart, dated December 30, 2023, will be available on Billboard's website on December 27. Due to the Christmas Day holiday, the release has been delayed by one day.
