In the aftermath of the recent head coach firings on Black Monday, the Washington Commanders have made some front-office changes as well. The team has fired head coach Ron Rivera and is now looking to fill their general manager position. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Commanders have requested an interview with San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters.

Peters is no stranger to interview requests, as his potential for becoming a general manager has been widely recognized in the league. A Bay Area native, Peters has expressed his contentment with his current role on multiple occasions. However, the opportunity to run his own football front office may be enticing for him.

Despite Washington's interest, it is worth noting that San Francisco can still counter the Commanders' request by offering Peters a promotion within the organization. One possibility is making John Lynch, the current 49ers general manager, the president of football operations while promoting Peters to the general manager position.

To assist with their search for a new general manager, the Commanders have enlisted the help of former Golden State Warriors General Manager Bob Myers, who hails from the same Bay Area as Peters. The hope is that Myers' local ties will make Washington an attractive destination for the talented assistant general manager.

As of now, the interview with Peters is scheduled to take place on either Tuesday or Wednesday, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. This marks the beginning of what is sure to be a series of rumors and speculations surrounding Peters' future.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Washington Commanders' search for their next general manager as the offseason unfolds.
