Former WWE women's champion Ronda Rousey has made a statement regarding the resignation of former chairman Vince McMahon amid sexual abuse allegations. Rousey believes that McMahon will continue to have control over the professional wrestling company as long as his longtime associate, Bruce Prichard, remains in a leadership position within WWE.

McMahon stepped down from his role in the parent company TKO on Friday following claims made by former employee Janel Grant that she had been sexually abused and trafficked by him to wrestlers and executives. Prichard, on the other hand, has not been linked to any of the allegations and has been a part of WWE for the majority of the past four decades, currently serving as the executive director on the creative team.

The creative team is responsible for developing scripts and storylines that shape every WWE show, with McMahon traditionally having the final say on creative decisions. Rousey, who had two different stints with the company between 2018 and 2019, and again from 2022 to 2023, points out that Prichard essentially acts as McMahon's avatar, implying that as long as Prichard remains involved, McMahon will still exert influence over the business.

Rousey's statement alludes to McMahon's previous retirement from WWE, prompted by revelations from the Wall Street Journal in July 2022 regarding substantial hush payments totaling over $12 million that he had made over the years. Despite his departure, McMahon continued to run things indirectly through Prichard at the time. The 78-year-old McMahon then returned to WWE in January of this year, eventually selling the company to Endeavor for $9.2 billion in April.

From McMahon's denial of Grant's claims, stating that her lawsuit is filled with lies and fabricated instances, to his son-in-law Paul 'Triple H' Levesque assuming a larger role within WWE, much of the responsibility previously held by McMahon now falls on Levesque, who works closely with Prichard. Cody Rhodes, a prominent WWE wrestler, acknowledged the "dark cloud" surrounding the company due to the allegations against McMahon and emphasized that TKO took the matter seriously and acted promptly.

So far, Prichard has not commented on the allegations against McMahon or responded to Rousey's message on social media. Rousey's most recent WWE match was against Shayna Baszler, another former MMA fighter turned pro wrestler. Since leaving WWE, Rousey has made appearances on the independent circuit and had one television match for Ring of Honor, a promotion supported by All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where Rhodes was formerly a vice president.

The fallout from McMahon's resignation and the implications it has for his ongoing influence within WWE continue to be widely discussed. With Prichard's role arguably being a key factor in this equation, the wrestling world closely watches for any further developments concerning both individuals and the future direction of the renowned company.
