Police have made significant progress in the investigation into the theft that occurred in the locker room of the Colorado Buffaloes during their game against UCLA at the Rose Bowl on October 28. According to a report from KABC, authorities have successfully identified the suspects responsible for stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from the team.
The Pasadena Police Department has revealed that the suspects are juveniles, although specific details about their identities have not been released to the public at this time. However, thanks to diligent police work, some of the stolen items have already been recovered, including gold and diamond chains. Unfortunately, other belongings remain missing.
Acknowledging the assistance provided by those who reported leads to their tip line, the Pasadena Police Department expressed their gratitude in a statement. They emphasized that such information and support are invaluable in maintaining safety and security within the community. The department's detectives have been working tirelessly to follow up on all leads, which subsequently led to the quick execution of search warrants. The investigation is still ongoing to ensure that justice is served.
Last week, head coach Deion Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes addressed the theft during a press conference, bringing attention to the need for the NCAA to find a solution in reimbursing the players for their stolen items. Sanders highlighted the significance of the Rose Bowl and appealed to the event's prestige as a prime opportunity for restitution.
In a passionate statement, Sanders stated, "This is the Rose Bowl. They say it's 'The Granddaddy of Them All,' right? I'm sure granddaddy has some money. Grandpa should have some money to give these kids. I'm gonna have a list made out from these young kids, and I know they're gonna be truthful about what they lost, so we can get it back for them. They may not be able to get the items back, but we should be able to reimburse them."
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Deion Sanders has experienced theft during his head coaching career. Back in 2021, while coaching at Jackson State, personal items were stolen from his office, though they were quickly recovered.
As the investigation into the theft from the Colorado Buffaloes' Rose Bowl locker room progresses, the hope remains that the remaining stolen items will be located, and appropriate measures can be taken to provide the players with the compensation they deserve.
