In an effort to revamp their defensive coaching staff, the Green Bay Packers have reportedly interviewed Christian Parker, a former assistant with the team, for the position of defensive coordinator. The news comes from NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
Parker, who is currently serving as the Denver Broncos' defensive backs coach since 2021, previously worked with the Packers from 2019-2020 under head coach Matt LaFleur as a defensive quality control coach.
At just 32 years old, Parker has already gained valuable experience in his coaching career. During his time with the Packers, he contributed to the development and improvement of the team's defensive unit.
Although Parker is being considered for the role, the Packers are also reportedly looking at other candidates. Former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley and Buffalo Bills linebackers coach Bobby Babich are both reportedly on Green Bay's radar for the position.
The Packers' decision to part ways with former defensive coordinator Joe Barry earlier this week has sparked a search for a suitable replacement. Green Bay aims to strengthen their defensive scheme and bolster their performance on that side of the field.
It remains to be seen who the Packers will ultimately select to take over the crucial role of defensive coordinator. However, the possibility of bringing back Parker, who has a prior understanding of the team's system and coaching philosophy, could present an appealing option for Green Bay.
As the Packers continue their search for their new defensive coordinator, fans and analysts eagerly await the team's decision and the potential impact it may have on the upcoming season.
