Injury updates have been provided by Seahawks coach Pete Carroll on his weekly radio show on Seattle Sports 710AM, as the team prepares for a Thursday night game against the 49ers. Despite suffering an elbow injury in Sunday's game against the Rams, there is optimism surrounding quarterback Geno Smith's availability for the upcoming game.

Coach Carroll expressed positivity regarding Smith's recovery, highlighting that the quarterback was able to return for the final drive of the game after being briefly sidelined. "We don't know much today yet," Carroll stated, "but it was a good sign that he could get back in and throw. He's going to be more sore today, so we'll see how he responds in the next couple of days. But it was a good job by him getting back out there."

While acknowledging that Smith may feel discomfort and soreness, Carroll remained confident that the quarterback would be able to make his way back onto the field. When asked if Smith will be ready for Thursday's game, Carroll responded, "I would think so."

Regarding the nature of Smith's injury, Carroll described it as a contusion and clarified that there is no further damage to his elbow. "He got hit on the tendon on his triceps, the bottom of his triceps, that's where the helmet hit the back of his arm," Carroll explained. "So he had a contusion there, they don't think there's any damage other than that. But we've got to see how much it swells up."

Carroll did not provide updates on other injuries suffered by the Seahawks in the game against the Rams, such as running back Kenneth Walker III's oblique strain. However, he did express hope that safety Jamal Adams, who missed Sunday's game, would be able to play in the upcoming game on Thursday.

The Seahawks are also closely monitoring the progress of right tackle Abraham Lucas, who recently returned to practice. Coach Carroll noted that Lucas is "close" to making a return, but the short week may present some challenges for his recovery. Lucas has been on injured reserve since the season opener due to a knee injury.

The Seahawks' Thursday night game against the 49ers presents a quick turnaround for the team, but with the optimism surrounding Geno Smith's potential availability and the hopeful return of other injured players, Seattle remains focused on securing a victory. The Seahawks' faithful, known as the 12s, made the journey to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles to show their support as the team aims to even the season series against the Rams in Week 11.
