In a major victory for the Ohio State Buckeyes, standout defensive lineman Cade Houston has reaffirmed his commitment to the program. Houston, a highly sought-after prospect from Buford, Georgia, chose Ohio State over notable contenders such as Alabama and Clemson.

Houston's decision to commit to the Buckeyes in August was driven, in part, by the presence of defensive line coach Larry Johnson. Known for his exceptional ability to develop talent, Johnson's coaching style and track record played a crucial role in Houston's choice.

During his high school career, Houston showcased his prowess on the field, recording impressive statistics. As a junior, he registered 64 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks. In his senior year, he tallied 46 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and five sacks, while forcing five fumbles.

Despite his initial commitment and relative silence on the recruitment front, Alabama and Clemson made a strong late push to sway Houston away from Ohio State. He visited both schools last weekend, raising concerns among Buckeye fans. Yet, ultimately, Houston stayed true to his commitment and opted to remain with Ohio State.

Coach Johnson's vision for Houston on the field is clear - to serve as a premier quarterback attacker and disruptor of the run game. Houston's versatility is also highlighted, as he is capable of playing inside as a defensive tackle if needed. During his visit to Ohio State, Houston expressed his enthusiasm for his prospective role as an edge rusher, and his desire to be developed into a unique and exceptional player.

Houston's decision comes as a welcome relief for the Buckeyes, who recently experienced a setback with the loss of five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott. Scott, previously committed to Ohio State, made a surprising flip to the University of Miami on November 29. Houston's commitment helps fill the void created by Scott's departure.

Ohio State's recruiting class of 2024 now boasts two talented defensive linemen. Eric Mensah, a three-star prospect from Mountain View in Stafford, Virginia, joins Houston in the Buckeyes' promising group.

As Ohio State continues to strengthen their roster for the upcoming seasons, the addition of Cade Houston provides a boost to their defensive line. With his playmaking abilities, versatile skill set, and dedication to development, Houston brings a formidable presence to the Buckeyes' defensive arsenal. Buckeye fans eagerly await the day when Houston steps onto the field, ready to make a significant impact for Ohio State.
