The history between San Francisco 49ers' star pass rusher Nick Bosa and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is no secret. However, Bosa made it clear that there was no lingering animosity between them, even as he couldn't resist having some fun at Mayfield's expense after the 49ers' 27-14 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday at Levi's Stadium.

During the game, the 49ers' rookie cornerback Ji'Ayir Brown intercepted Baker Mayfield in the end zone during the final minutes of the Week 11 clash. Following the play, Bosa took the opportunity to exchange words with his former college foe.

A video clip captured the moment when Bosa was caught mouthing something to Mayfield, leaving everyone curious about what was said. When asked about the on-field conversation post-game, Bosa, known for his dry humor, delivered a perfect quip.

"No, he was b----ing to the ref, and I told him there's no horse collar in the pocket," Bosa replied when questioned if he had tried to console Mayfield. "He thought he got roughed."

Bosa's comment referred to Mayfield complaining to the referee about a potential roughing the passer penalty. Bosa, in his playful response, reminded Mayfield that no horse-collar tackle could occur when he was still in the pocket.

Earlier in the week, Bosa revealed that he and Mayfield had crossed paths in February at the Waste Management Phoenix Open PGA Tour event. Bosa described Mayfield as "nice" and emphasized that he "never had anything against" the Tampa Bay quarterback.

The history between Bosa and Mayfield dates back to their college days when Mayfield, while playing for the University of Oklahoma, planted a flag at midfield after defeating Bosa's Ohio State team. In response, Bosa, now in the NFL, enjoyed a successful season and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2019.

Despite their well-documented past encounters, it seems that any ill feelings between Bosa and Mayfield have dissipated. Bosa's playful comment after the game showed that it was all in good fun, and both players have moved on from their previous rivalry.

As the NFL season continues, it will be interesting to see if the friendly banter between Bosa and Mayfield continues to unfold. For now, they can both focus on their respective teams' performance as they aim for success in the remainder of the season.
