The National Football League has taken swift action by placing Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross on the Commissioner Exempt List. The decision comes in the wake of Ross' recent arrest in Johnson County, Kansas, on charges of domestic battery and property damage.

Ross, who signed a three-year, $2.56 million contract with the Chiefs in May 2022, had been participating in team activities until the league's announcement. As a result of being placed on the Commissioner Exempt List, Ross will be prohibited from attending games or practicing with the team.

Head coach Andy Reid addressed the situation on Wednesday, stating that the team was gathering information and would continue to do so. Despite limited details provided, Reid confirmed that Ross would be working with the team that day.

Ross, who previously played for Clemson, did not participate in the 2022 season due to injury. However, he has since returned and made appearances in all seven games of the 2023 season, catching three passes for 34 yards.

The Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to face off against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on KCTV5.

The NFL's decision to place Ross on the Commissioner Exempt List highlights the league's commitment to addressing issues of domestic violence and ensuring the safety and well-being of its players and their families. As the investigation into Ross' case unfolds, further developments and possible actions will be closely monitored by the league and the Chiefs organization.
