In a move to bolster their running back depth, the New England Patriots have claimed JaMycal Hasty off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The decision was made on Monday, just days after the Jaguars cut Hasty from their roster.

Hasty, 27, had an impressive season last year for Jacksonville, recording 320 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns in 17 games. However, this season has seen him sidelined, as he has not received a single touch in three games so far.

The running back entered the league in 2020 as an undrafted free agent, spending two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before joining the Jaguars in 2022. In his 39 career games, Hasty has amassed 478 offensive snaps and 347 special teams snaps.

Throughout his career, Hasty has showcased his versatility, with 101 carries for 410 yards and 50 catches for 316 yards. He has also found the end zone on five occasions. Additionally, Hasty has proved his prowess as a kickoff returner, averaging 18.7 yards per return.

The Patriots' running back room already boasts Rhamondre Stevenson, Ezekiel Elliott, and Ty Montgomery as their main options. The team also has Kevin Harris and Patrick Taylor on their practice squad.

It remains to be seen what role Hasty will assume within the Patriots' offense. However, his previous track record and his ability to contribute on special teams make him an intriguing addition to the team.

With this acquisition, the Patriots are showing their commitment to maintaining a strong stable of running backs as they continue their quest for success.
