SAINT PAUL, Minn. - In an unexpected move, the Minnesota Wild announced today that Head Coach Dean Evason and Assistant Coach Bob Woods have been relieved of their coaching duties, according to a statement by Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, Bill Guerin.

Guerin acknowledged Evason's contributions to the team during his tenure, particularly as Head Coach, stating, "Dean did an excellent job during his time with the Minnesota Wild, especially in his role as Head Coach. I am very thankful for his hard work and dedication to our organization." Evason had taken over as interim Head Coach on February 14, 2020, following the dismissal of Bruce Boudreau, and was later named the full-time Head Coach on July 13, 2020. The decision to relieve Evason of his coaching duties comes as a surprise, considering his efforts in guiding the team.

Assistant Coach Bob Woods was also recognized for his dedication and hard work by Guerin, who said, "I would also like to thank Bob for his contributions during his tenure as an Assistant Coach with the Wild."
