MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator, Wes Phillips, was arrested on Friday night for a misdemeanor DWI. However, despite the arrest, Phillips will still be traveling with the team to Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon as they prepare to face off against the Raiders on Sunday.

The Vikings released a statement regarding the incident, stating that Phillips promptly notified the team following his arrest. They also mentioned that early in the morning, they contacted the NFL and, after internal discussions, made the decision to allow Phillips to travel with the team. The statement added that the team will gather more information about the incident and provide further comment at the appropriate time.

Phillips, 44, was arrested around 11 p.m. and was subsequently released after posting a $300 bond at 1:26 a.m. His first court appearance has been scheduled for December 21.

Head coach Kevin O'Connell recently hired Phillips, following his appointment with the Vikings. Philips comes from a football lineage, being both the son and grandson of former NFL coaches. Prior to joining the Minnesota Vikings, he served as the tight ends coach for the Los Angeles Rams.

Currently, the Vikings are standing at a 6-6 record and are firmly in the NFC playoff race. However, they suffered a loss against the Chicago Bears last week, further complicating their season. Starting quarterback Kirk Cousins' Achilles tendon injury in October has left the team struggling to find a consistent rhythm.

As a result, Josh Dobbs assumed the role of the starting quarterback in the previous game against the Bears. He completed 22 out of 32 passes for 185 yards. Despite the team's defeat, Dobbs will have another opportunity to showcase his skills in the upcoming game against the Raiders in Las Vegas on Sunday.
