LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, a leading Heisman Trophy candidate, is expected to return to practice in a limited role on Wednesday after being in concussion protocol following a brutal hit from linebacker Dallas Turner in last week's loss against Alabama. According to ESPN.com, Daniels participated in a morning workout, where he reached speeds of up to 20 mph while running.

Tigers coach Brian Kelly provided an update on Daniels' progress, stating that if his practice goes well on Wednesday, he will be cleared for non-contact drills. If everything continues to go smoothly, Daniels could potentially be cleared for full contact practice on Thursday. However, Kelly remained tight-lipped about who would start in the upcoming home game against Florida on Saturday.

Daniels sustained the injury early in the fourth quarter of the game against Alabama and briefly returned to the field before heading to the medical tent. The hit from Turner, which resulted in a penalty for roughing the passer, was reviewed for targeting but ultimately deemed not to be targeting. Kelly expressed his concerns about the hit and sent a video of it to the SEC office, believing that targeting was missed.

In the game against Alabama, Daniels showcased his talent by passing for 219 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, while also rushing for 163 yards and scoring one touchdown. Backup quarterback Garrett Nussmeier stepped in after Daniels' injury and completed 5 of 10 passes for 53 yards.

Throughout the season, Daniels has been impressive, with a total of 2,792 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 684 rushing yards with six scores. His return to the field will undoubtedly be a boost for the LSU Tigers as they face off against Florida this Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

It remains to be seen if Daniels will be given the starting position or if Nussmeier will get the nod. LSU fans eagerly await further updates on Daniels' recovery and potential role in Saturday's game as they hope for a successful return for their star quarterback.
