The Houston Texans had an impressive rookie class in 2023, contributing significantly to their successful campaign in the AFC South. Led by their first two picks, the Texans built a strong foundation for their championship-winning squad.

Quarterback Stroud, selected as the third overall pick, displayed remarkable poise and maturity beyond his years. He threw an impressive 23 touchdown passes and only five interceptions, leading the team to an unexpected division title. Stroud's partnership with third-year receiver Nico Collins proved to be a formidable force in the passing game, elevating the Texans' offense.

The defensive side of the ball saw standout performances from defensive lineman Will Anderson Jr. Despite battling through an ankle injury, Anderson recorded seven sacks throughout the season, including a remarkable four in the month of December. His relentless nature and ability to disrupt opposing offenses played a pivotal role in Houston's playoff run.

Injuries plagued the Texans' Day 2 picks, but both showed promise for the future. Wide receiver Tank Dell was on track to surpass the 1,000-yard mark and establish himself as a threat in the punt return game before suffering a broken leg in December. Offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, who recovered from a hamstring injury early on, showcased his skills as a solid left guard in the second half of the season.

The later picks also made contributions despite facing their own challenges. Center Jarrett Patterson, who started the season as Houston's center, unfortunately suffered a leg injury halfway through the season. Defensive lineman Dylan Horton displayed promise as a reserve pass rusher before leaving the team due to personal health reasons. Linebacker Henry To'oTo'o impressed early on with 57 tackles, but a concussion limited his playing time in the latter half of the season. Wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson showed potential as a future solid option as a No. 2 or 3 receiver.

Punter Ty Zentner made an impact as an injury replacement for Cameron Johnston, stepping up when needed. Zentner's role expanded even further when he later joined the Tennessee Titans.

Overall, the Texans' rookie class of 2023 played a significant role in their success, with Stroud and Anderson leading the way as Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year. Though injuries hindered some players' progress, their potential and contributions should not be overlooked.

With these promising rookies and a solid foundation in place, the Houston Texans look primed for continued success as they prepare for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
