The New York Giants have made another coaching addition to their staff, hiring Michael Ghobrial as their next special teams coordinator. The announcement was made on Thursday morning, solidifying Ghobrial's role with the team.

Ghobrial, who is set to turn 36 soon, is no stranger to the New York football scene. He has spent the previous three seasons serving as the assistant special teams coach for the New York Jets. During his tenure with the Jets, the team showcased one of the league's top-performing special teams units.

In the 2024 season, the Jets led the NFL in kickoff coverage and ranked second in kickoff returns. They also excelled in net punting, securing the seventh spot, and had a solid punt return average, landing them at 12th in the league.

The Giants wasted no time in bringing Ghobrial on board. He interviewed for the position on Saturday and stood out as a strong candidate. This quick decision showcases the organization's confidence in his abilities to lead their special teams unit effectively.

Importantly, Ghobrial's role as the special teams coordinator of the East Team in the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl adds another achievement to his resume. Coincidentally, Giants' offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will serve as the West Team head coach, providing an opportunity for them to assess potential prospects from both squads who could contribute to both offense and special teams.

With the special teams coordinator position filled, the Giants now turn their attention to the remaining big hire on their coaching staff - the defensive coordinator. Giants' fans eagerly await further updates as the team continues to shape its coaching staff for the upcoming season.
