Florida State University (FSU) head coach, Mike Norvell, met with the media on Monday to provide an update on the injury status of three key wide receivers who missed the recent game against Wake Forest. The Seminoles were without star wideout Johnny Wilson, slot receiver Destyn Hill, and pass catcher Hykeem Williams in their 41-16 victory over the Demon Deacons.
Wilson sustained an injury in FSU's previous game against Duke, which forced him to sit out the Wake Forest matchup. According to Norvell, Wilson was able to participate in practice on Monday, and his availability for the upcoming game against Pittsburgh will be determined as the week progresses.
Meanwhile, both Hill and Williams are still going through their respective recovery processes. Norvell mentioned that their status will also be assessed as the team moves closer to Tuesday.
Despite the absence of these key receivers, FSU quarterback Jordan Travis showcased his abilities by throwing for an impressive 359 yards and three touchdowns in the victory over Wake Forest. Norvell expressed satisfaction with the performance of the reserve options in the passing game, as they stepped up in the absence of the injured starters.
Norvell highlighted the contributions of Kentron Poitier, who made an explosive play on the first drive, and Ja'Khi Douglas, who displayed his playmaking abilities after recovering from injury. Other players such as Darion Williamson and the tight ends also played crucial roles, showcasing the team's depth and versatility in the passing game.
The return of the three injured wide receivers would undeniably provide an added boost to FSU's offense, allowing for more options and keeping the receiving corps fresh throughout the game.
FSU is now gearing up for their next challenge as they face Pittsburgh this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN. The availability of Wilson, Hill, and Williams will play a significant role in the team's offensive strategy moving forward, and fans eagerly await updates on their status as the week progresses.
