The Carolina Panthers have wasted no time in restructuring their coaching staff after the appointment of Dave Canales as the team's new head coach. As part of the overhaul, the Panthers have decided to part ways with interim head coach and special teams coordinator Chris Tabor and offensive line coach James Campen from the 2023 season.

Reports now indicate that Canales has already started identifying potential candidates for the assistant coaching roles, with the special teams coordinator position being a top priority. It appears that Tracy Smith, who previously served as the special teams assistant for the Seattle Seahawks, is a target for this role. Smith had worked alongside Canales during their time together in Seattle from 2021 to 2022, making him a strong candidate to fill the void left by Tabor.

Furthermore, the Panthers have also expressed interest in interviewing Will Harriger, who currently serves as the quality control/offensive assistant for the Dallas Cowboys. Harriger previously worked alongside Canales in Seattle from 2014 to 2020 and had notable experience coaching quarterbacks during his time at USC, including coaching Caleb Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2022.

In addition to these coaching additions, the Panthers have also requested an interview with Marcus Brady, the former offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts. Brady, who also served under Frank Reich in Indianapolis, currently works as an offensive assistant for the Philadelphia Eagles. Although this interview could be a Rooney Rule requirement, there is genuine interest in Brady given his previous experience as an OC candidate.

While the search for the offensive coordinator position is ongoing, it is speculated that Brad Idzik, the current wide receiver coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, may be a strong contender due to his close relationship with Canales. However, no official decision has been made yet, indicating that the search is far from over.

Interestingly, the Panthers have not shown much interest in making changes to the defensive coaching staff. If Ejiro Evero, the team's current defensive coordinator, does not secure a head coaching position with the Seattle Seahawks, it is likely that the defensive coaching staff will largely remain intact. The Panthers seem satisfied with the defensive side of the ball, at least for now.

With these coaching moves taking shape, Panthers fans are eagerly awaiting the finalization of the coaching staff under Canales. As the team continues to make strategic decisions in building a solid coaching foundation, hopes are high for the upcoming season.
