Bengals running back Joe Mixon's availability for Sunday night's game against the Bills remains uncertain as he has been listed as questionable with a chest injury. Although Mixon participated fully in practice for the second consecutive day, the Bengals are not guaranteeing his presence on the field.
Mixon's chest injury initially limited him during the first practice of the week. However, head coach Zac Taylor expressed optimism about his star player's status, stating that he expects Mixon to be able to play.
According to Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Taylor explained, "He'll be good. He was just sore."
While the Bengals wait for a final decision on Mixon, defensive end Trey Hendrickson's involvement in the game is no longer in doubt. Hendrickson missed practice on Wednesday due to a foot injury but participated fully on Friday, removing him from the injury report.
Unfortunately, the Bengals will be without defensive tackle Josh Tupou, who has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Additionally, linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither and guard Max Scharpling join Mixon in the questionable category as they both deal with knee injuries.
The uncertainty surrounding Mixon's availability presents a challenge for the Bengals' offense as they prepare to face a formidable Bills defense. Mixon has been a crucial component of their rushing attack, providing both yards and touchdowns. If he is unable to play, the Bengals will need other running backs to step up and fill the void.
Sunday night's game will be a significant test for the Bengals, who are aiming to build on their positive start to the season. They currently hold a record of 2-1 and will be facing a Bills team that is also off to an impressive 2-1 start.
Fans will anxiously await the official update on Mixon's status ahead of the game. The Bengals will be hoping for a positive outcome as they look to secure another victory and continue their promising season.
