The allegations involve sexual comments that Gallo allegedly made during the audition process for the film, which took place in November 2023. One actress, who read opposite Gallo for scenes depicting one of the victims of the Golden State killer Joseph James DeAngelo, claimed that the actor told her she needed to believe she would die if she didn't comply with his demands. Gallo's comments included explicit language and a power dynamic, leaving the actress feeling uncomfortable.

Another complainant stated that Gallo discussed performing explicit acts onscreen and insisted on finding an actress who would not object or complain about the content. These comments emphasized the actress's lack of choice, mirroring the lack of control experienced by victims in real-life situations.

The allegations against Gallo were first reported by Rolling Stone magazine. However, it is important to note that James Franco, who also stars in "The Policeman," is not under investigation in relation to the film.
