FX's highly acclaimed anthology series, "Feud," is making a long-awaited comeback with its second season, titled "Capote Vs. The Swans." The network has recently dropped a first look trailer, unveiling an impressive ensemble cast and teasing viewers with the drama to come.

The first season of "Feud," which aired in March 2017, captivated audiences as it delved into the legendary rivalry between Hollywood icons Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, portrayed brilliantly by Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon, respectively.

Now, after a gap of nearly seven years, fans can look forward to the highly anticipated second season, which is set in the 1970s and centers around the life of writer Truman Capote. Based on Laurence Leamer's bestselling book "Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era," the eight-episode limited series will focus on Capote and the elite New York women, whom he dubbed "the swans," that he surrounded himself with.

The star-studded cast includes Naomi Watts, who is also serving as an executive producer, in the role of Babe Paley. Tom Hollander takes on the challenging role of Truman Capote, while Diane Lane portrays Slim Keith, Chloë Sevigny embodies C.Z. Guest, and Calista Flockhart steps into the shoes of Lee Radziwill. Other notable cast members include Demi Moore as Ann "Bang-Bang" Woodward and Molly Ringwald as Joanne Carson.

Fans of the first season will be thrilled to see Jessica Lange returning to the series in an undisclosed role, joining other cast reunions with creator Ryan Murphy. Notably, Lange has previously worked with Murphy on "American Horror Story," while Watts appeared in "The Watcher" and Sevigny was part of the "American Horror Story" ensemble. Ringwald also has a connection to Murphy through her involvement in "Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer."

"Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans" is set to premiere with two back-to-back episodes on January 31 at 10pm ET/PT on FX. Viewers can also catch the series on Hulu the following day, allowing for flexible streaming options.

The logline of the second season provides a glimpse into the captivating narrative: Truman Capote, portrayed by Tom Hollander, immerses himself in the lives of society's elite women—the "swans," including Barbara 'Babe' Paley played by Naomi Watts, Slim Keith portrayed by Diane Lane, C.Z. Guest embodied by Chloë Sevigny, and Lee Radziwill played by Calista Flockhart. Entranced by their allure, Capote becomes their confidante, only to betray them later by penning a thinly veiled fictionalized account of their lives in his planned magnum opus, "Answered Prayers." The publication of an excerpt from the book in Esquire leads to the downfall of his relationships, his banishment from high society, and his subsequent spiraling self-destruction.

Alongside the stellar cast, the series features Treat Williams in his final role as Bill Paley, Joe Mantello as Jack Dunphy, and Russell Tovey as John O'Shea. Treat Williams, unfortunately, passed away in June 2023, making this a poignant addition to his celebrated career.

Originally, the second season of "Feud" was intended to chronicle the tumultuous marriage between Prince Charles and Princess Diana. However, this concept was later scrapped, and the focus shifted to Truman Capote's captivating story. Additionally, Ryan Murphy's move of his overall deal to Netflix in 2018 contributed to a delay in the production of the new season.

"Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans" was written for television by Jon Robin Baitz and directed by Gus Van Sant, Max Winkler, and Jennifer Lynch. The series is executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Alexis Martin Woodall, Jon Robin Baitz, Gus Van Sant, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Naomi Watts, Eric Kovtun, and Scott Robertson. The production is a collaboration between 20th Television and FX.

The return of "Feud" promises to be a gripping exploration of scandal, betrayal, and the price of fame as it takes audiences deep into the fascinating world of Truman Capote and the glamorous swans of high society New York. Mark your calendars for January 31st to witness the clash between Capote and the swans like never before.
