Born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico in 1981, Canto spent his formative years in Texas. Displaying immense talent and determination at a young age, he left home at just 16 to pursue a career in music, performing as a singer and guitarist in Mexico City. However, his path eventually led him to the acting world, where he found success through roles in commercials and local TV shows.

Canto's breakthrough came when he was cast in Kevin Williamson's 2013 Fox drama series, The Following, showcasing his acting versatility.
