In a recent interview, Dominic West opened up about the weight of portraying Prince Charles in the hit Netflix series, "The Crown." The actor expressed his relief that the show has come to a conclusion, allowing him to step away from the world of the royal family. West initially had reservations about taking on the role, but was ultimately drawn to the script by Peter Morgan.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today show, West shared his thoughts on the conclusion of the critically acclaimed series. He admitted, "You don't turn down a Peter Morgan script very easily." Season 6 of "The Crown" received mixed reviews in the UK, with some British critics expressing astonishment at scenes involving West and the depiction of Princess Diana's "ghost."

When asked about potential concerns regarding the royals' response to the series, West replied, "I don't want to make their lives any more difficult than they already are." He acknowledged that all reactions worry him, stating, "I read all the reviews and spent two days in bed. So yes, I'm a sensitive soul, I worry about what people think."

While promoting his new UK theatre production of Arthur Miller's "A View from the Bridge," West expressed his relief at being able to move on from discussions about the monarchy. He laughed, saying, "It's such a relief now to go back to theatre and not have to talk about the monarchy anymore."

Despite his relief, West mentioned that there were certain aspects he enjoyed while playing Prince Charles. "I loved being on it. I loved wearing the clothes. I loved driving the cars, and I loved having people bow to me," he admitted. "It's an absolutely wonderful feeling."

Now, as West shifts his focus to his new theatre production, he can fully immerse himself in a different kind of performance. Stepping away from the world of the royal family, West is eager to embrace the challenges and joys of live theatre once again.

With "The Crown" behind him, Dominic West looks forward to engaging with audiences through the power of stage performance, leaving fans excited to see his portrayal in "A View from the Bridge".
