Toyota Recalls 1.9M RAV4s Due to Battery Safety Concerns
ICARO Media Group
Toyota announced on Wednesday that it is recalling approximately 1.9 million RAV4 compact SUVs due to a safety hazard related to battery shifting during forceful turns. This recall applies to certain RAV4 models manufactured between 2013 and 2018, according to the automaker.
The issue arises from the improper hold-down clamp installation, potentially leading to battery movement and the risk of a short circuit. Toyota is actively working on a fix for this defect and plans to replace the hold-down clamp, positive terminal cover, and battery tray with new components.
Owners of affected RAV4s will receive notifications by late December regarding the recall. As of now, there have been no reported incidents of fires, crashes, or injuries associated with this problem.
