Sony's latest PlayStation 5 update, rolled out on January 24, has effectively blocked Cronus Zen devices from functioning on the console. Cronus Zen, a small but powerful device known for its ability to modify controllers and use macros to gain an advantage in-game, can no longer connect to the PS5 following the update.

The issue was confirmed by Cronus, as the company's website now displays a message informing users that their devices are no longer compatible with the PlayStation 5. The company advises players not to download the update in order to maintain functionality with their Cronus Zen devices.

For those unfamiliar with Cronus Zen, it is commonly used by ill-intentioned Call of Duty players to alter various in-game elements such as recoil and aim assist. This allows them to gain an unfair advantage over opponents in a game that already has controller-friendly mechanics.

Disabled or less physically capable players also utilize Cronus Zen to remap or modify their inputs, enabling them to enjoy games that would otherwise be inaccessible. However, this noble usage is overshadowed by the reputation Cronus Zen has gained among the gaming community.

Cronus has emphasized that they are uncertain when the functionality of their devices will be restored. According to the company, it could be a matter of hours, days, or even months before Cronus Zen works on PlayStation 5 consoles again.

As a result, players who encounter opponents with suspiciously impeccable aim or extraordinary in-game abilities suddenly experiencing a decline in performance can attribute it to the incompatibility of their Cronus Zen devices with the latest PS5 update.

While some may view the blocking of Cronus Zen devices as a positive step towards maintaining fair play, it is worth noting that there are legitimate users who rely on the device for accessibility purposes. These users may now face difficulties in adapting their gaming experience to suit their individual needs.

The impact of this incompatibility issue has yet to be determined, but it remains to be seen whether Cronus will be able to find a solution or if PlayStation 5 players will have to adapt to a gaming environment free from the influence of Cronus Zen devices.
