Apple has recently rolled out the second beta of iOS 17.3, along with updates for other software, to developers. This update brings several significant features, including Secure Device Protection, which adds an extra layer of security for iPhone users. The first beta of iOS 17.3 was released on December 14, prior to the holiday break.

One of the key highlights of iOS 17.3 is the introduction of Secure Device Protection. This feature ensures that users' data is safeguarded in the event of their phone being stolen and the password being compromised. With Secure Device Protection enabled, accessing saved passwords will require Face ID or Touch ID verification. This measure also makes it more difficult for thieves to change the Apple ID password of the device's owner. Additionally, there is now a delay in removing Find My from an iPhone with Secure Device Protection enabled.

Collaborative Apple Music playlists, which were temporarily disabled, have now been re-enabled in the iOS 17.3 beta. Moreover, users can now express their reactions to Apple Music playlists by using emojis. The latest build number for iOS 17.3 beta 2 is 21D5036c, while the first build was labeled 21D5026f. Developers can update their devices by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update.

It is important to note that although iPadOS 17.3 is also available for iPads, Secure Device Protection is currently exclusive to iPhones.

Apple has also released the second beta of macOS Sonoma 14.3, watchOS 10.3, and tvOS 17.3. The initial beta versions of these updates did not introduce any notable changes apart from potential bug fixes. These betas are expected to become available to users registered in the Apple Beta Software Program in the near future.

As more information becomes available about the new builds, updates will be provided. Users are encouraged to share any new discoveries related to the updates in the comments section or through 9to5Mac's social networks.
