In the latest drop tests conducted by Allstate Protection Plans, the durability of the newly released Samsung Galaxy S24 series has come under scrutiny. The results indicate that the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones did not fare as well as their predecessors.

During the Allstate Protection Plans tests, each of the Galaxy S24 phones went through front and back drop tests to assess their breakability. The 6.1-inch Galaxy S24 showed nearly identical damage to its predecessor, the Galaxy S23, in both tests. The phone sustained cracks across the top and bottom of its back panel after being dropped from a height of six feet onto a sidewalk. Unfortunately, just like its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 became completely non-functional after just one front-down drop.

The larger 6.7-inch Galaxy S24 Plus also failed to pass the Allstate Protection Plans tests. It shattered during both front and back-down drops, rendering it unusable. This is a stark contrast to the Galaxy S23 Plus from last year, which successfully withstood these tests. Interestingly, both the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus are made of materials similar to their predecessors.

The most concerning results came from the flagship 6.8-inch Galaxy S24 Ultra. Despite boasting an upgraded cover material, a new titanium frame, and a flat-edge design, the Galaxy S24 Ultra shattered after just one front- and back-down drop from a height of six feet. In comparison, the Galaxy S23 Ultra proved to be much more durable.

These test results are raising concerns among consumers who are looking for smartphones that can withstand accidental drops. However, Allstate Protection Plans proposes a simple solution: getting a case. Jason Siciliano, the vice president of marketing and global creative director at Allstate Protection Plans, emphasized the importance of protecting these expensive devices, especially considering that the starting price of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is $1,299. Siciliano recommended using a case and a screen protector as a wise choice to safeguard these smartphones.

Fortunately, consumers have plenty of options when it comes to selecting a suitable case for their Galaxy S24 series. Whether it's a Galaxy S24 case, Galaxy S24 Plus case, or Galaxy S24 Ultra case, there are numerous choices available to protect these devices from accidental drops.

As the smartphone market continues to evolve and devices become increasingly expensive, it is crucial for manufacturers to prioritize durability. Consumers should consider investing in protective measures, such as cases and screen protectors, to ensure the longevity of their smartphones and alleviate concerns about accidental damage.
