Tee Higgins Requests Trade from Bengals; Titans Consider Potential Acquisition

According to multiple reports, wide receiver Tee Higgins has recently requested a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals. This development might not come as a surprise considering that the Bengals had previously franchised Higgins a couple of weeks ago. Higgins is seeking the security of a long-term deal, as the franchise tag would pay him a guaranteed sum of $21.8 million in 2024.
Notably, discussions have already begun around whether the Tennessee Titans should make a move to acquire Higgins. However, a potential trade for the talented receiver would entail surrendering valuable draft picks and negotiating a substantial contract. While the financial aspect may not pose much of a problem for the Titans, who currently possess approximately $80 million in available cap space, the real issue lies in the availability of draft capital.
Already lacking a third-round pick in this year's draft, the Titans find themselves in a position where relinquishing any more picks would be a challenge. However, there exists a potential scenario in which the Titans could explore using their second-round pick in this year's draft and a pick in next year's draft to acquire Higgins. Given that the Titans are likely to select a receiver with one of their first two picks, trading the second-round pick for Higgins might not have significant ramifications.
Nevertheless, it is crucial to consider the value of Higgins relative to the 7th overall pick, which the Titans currently possess. Many experts suggest that giving up such a valuable pick for Higgins may not be a prudent decision.
As discussions intensify regarding the Titans' potential involvement in the "Tee Higgins sweepstakes," it remains to be seen whether a mutually beneficial trade arrangement can be reached. Only time will tell if the Titans are willing to part ways with valuable draft picks in their pursuit of the talented wide receiver.
