The investigation, which had been a major talking point leading up to the Formula 1 season opener in Bahrain, concluded with Red Bull dismissing the allegations.
The details of the allegations have not been made public. Red Bull announced that the independent investigation into the claims against Horner is complete, and the grievance has been dismissed. The complainant has a right of appeal. The parent company of Red Bull stated that they are confident the investigation was fair, rigorous, and impartial.
Horner, who has been the Red Bull team principal since 2005, remained in his post during the investigation and led the team during the preseason tests last week, despite acknowledging the distraction it posed. Red Bull's drivers, including three-time defending champion Max Verstappen, continued their preparations for the upcoming season amidst the controversy surrounding the team principal.
The announcement of Horner being cleared of misconduct came shortly after Mercedes driver and seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton emphasized the importance of resolving the allegations, stating that they need to be taken seriously to uphold the sport's values.
Red Bull, which won all but one race last season, is set to have Ford Motor Co. as its engine supplier starting in 2026. Prior to the resolution of the investigation, the CEO of Ford Motor Co. had written to the team demanding a resolution, with rival team principals Toto Wolff of Mercedes and Zak Brown of McLaren calling for transparency in the investigation.
Christian Horner's presence in the popular Netflix docuseries "Drive to Survive" and his intense rivalry with Toto Wolff has heightened his profile outside of F1. With a successful track record of six constructors' championships and seven drivers' championships, Horner's leadership has been instrumental in Red Bull's achievements in the sport.
