NBA Suspends Multiple Players After On-Court Altercation

The NBA has handed down suspensions following an on-court altercation during a game between the Heat and the Pelicans. Butler and Pelicans forward Naji Marshall have been suspended for one game each for their involvement in the altercation, while Heat center Thomas Bryant and Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado received three-game suspensions for leaving the bench area to join the altercation. Additionally, Heat forward Nikola Jović has been suspended for one game for his involvement from the bench.
The incident occurred early in the fourth quarter of the game with the Miami Heat leading 84-80. The altercation started after a foul by Miami's Kevin Love on Pelicans forward Zion Williamson, causing Marshall to confront Love, leading to Butler stepping in. The situation escalated with shoving between Butler and Marshall, and additional players Bryant, Alvarado, and Jović joined the fray along the sideline.
As a result of the altercation, Butler, Marshall, Bryant, and Alvarado were all ejected from the game, which the Heat went on to win 106-95. Following the suspensions, Butler and Jović will miss the Miami Heat's game against the Sacramento Kings, while Bryant will miss games against the Kings, Trail Blazers, and Nuggets. Marshall will be absent from the Pelicans' game against the Chicago Bulls, and Alvarado will miss games against the Knicks and Pacers.
