In a recent game against the Milwaukee Brewers, the New York Mets found themselves facing consequences for their actions. Both manager Carlos Mendoza and right-hander Yohan Ramirez were disciplined by Major League Baseball (MLB) on Sunday.

Mendoza and Ramirez were both fined and suspended as a result of their involvement. Mendoza served his ban on Sunday, while Ramirez chose to appeal his suspension, allowing him to be available for Sunday's series finale at Citi Field.

The disciplinary action came in response to an incident involving Milwaukee's Rhys Hoskins that took place on Friday. Hoskins executed a controversial, yet legal slide into second base, which led to tensions and a bench-clearing moment when Jeff McNeil confronted him.

On the following day, Hoskins, known for his previous rivalry with the Mets during his time with the Philadelphia Phillies, faced boos from the home crowd. However, he responded by reaching base four times throughout the game.

It was during the seventh inning when Ramirez unleashed a high and behind pitch, resulting in his ejection from the game. Ramirez later clarified that he had intended to throw an inside sinker, but the chilly weather affected his grip, causing the pitch to go awry.

Despite Ramirez's explanation, Hoskins remained skeptical and disregarded it, stating that professional players do not miss their targets by such a significant margin. He insisted that he was not concerned with whether the pitch was intentional or not.

Mendoza came to Ramirez's defense, emphasizing that there was no intention to hit Hoskins. Brewers' manager, Pat Murphy, also expressed doubt that it was a deliberate act.

The Mets' disciplinary actions highlight the league's commitment to maintaining fair play and player safety. While Mendoza faced his suspension, Ramirez's appeal will be further reviewed by MLB.

The incident between the Mets and Hoskins continues to add fuel to an already heated rivalry, leaving fans and analysts eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this ongoing saga.
