Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy will not be attending the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis for the second consecutive year, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. Alongside defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, McCarthy will stay at The Star to focus on staff hirings and implementing changes to the defensive scheme. Last year, McCarthy also opted to skip most of the Combine after transitioning to play-calling duties and parting ways with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Instead, he participated in virtual interviews with prospects while briefly visiting Indianapolis to meet with the media before returning to Dallas. The decision to forgo the Combine mirrors that of Rams head coach Sean McVay and underscores a continued trend of virtual participation among NFL coaches for the event.
