Former wide receiver Corey Davis is determined to make a comeback to the NFL after a temporary hiatus, according to a report by ESPN's Field Yates. Davis, who left the New York Jets during training camp last season, has expressed his desire to resume his professional football career. The Jets are expected to release Davis from their reserve/retired list, leaving open the possibility for him to return to the team under a new contract.
Selected as the fifth overall pick by the Tennessee Titans in the 2017 NFL draft, Davis had an impressive tenure with the team before joining the Jets as a free agent in 2021. In his time with the Titans, Davis recorded 207 catches for 2,851 yards and 11 touchdowns. During his tenure with the Jets, he played in 22 games, amassing 66 receptions for 1,028 yards and six touchdowns.
Now, Davis is eager to add to his career numbers as he sets his sights on the upcoming season. Although it remains to be seen whether he will rejoin the Jets or explore other opportunities, the wide receiver's return to the field is anticipated later this year.
It is worth noting that Davis's decision to step away from the Jets last season was temporary, and he is eager to pick up where he left off. With his experience, talent, and determination, teams will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on Davis as he looks to make his comeback in the NFL.
