In an effort to bolster their offensive lineup, the Cleveland Browns have reached an agreement with the Denver Broncos to acquire wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. The trade is set to take place when the new league year begins next week, as reported by multiple sources.
To secure the services of Jeudy, the Browns will send the Broncos a fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick in the 2024 draft. This move comes as part of the Broncos' strategy to reshape their roster and create cap space for future signings, including the recent release of safety Justin Simmons.
By trading Jeudy, the Broncos will benefit from a significant cap saving of $12.987 million. Jeudy, who was selected as the No. 15 overall pick in the 2020 draft, is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract after the Broncos exercised his fifth-year option last year.
Throughout his tenure with the Broncos, Jeudy has proven to be a valuable asset on the field. Having appeared in 57 games with 44 starts in his first four seasons, he has amassed an impressive tally of 211 receptions for 3,053 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite not reaching the milestone of 1,000 yards receiving in a single season, Jeudy came close in 2022, recording 67 passes for 972 yards and six touchdowns.
Jeudy's performance in the 2023 season showcased his capabilities, as he finished with 54 receptions for 758 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games, with 11 starts.
Interestingly, the Browns had previously pursued Jeudy during the 2023 trading deadline but were unsuccessful in securing a deal. However, the upcoming trade will see Jeudy join the ranks of receivers such as Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore, who were acquired by the Browns via trade in recent years.
The acquisition of Jerry Jeudy signifies the Browns' commitment to strengthening their offense and providing their quarterback with formidable receiving options. As the new league year approaches, Cleveland fans eagerly anticipate the impact that Jeudy will bring to their team's receiving corps.
