### Vice President Kamala Harris Criticizes Trump Over Hurricane Response Misinformation at North Carolina Rally

Vice President Kamala Harris held a campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina, on Sunday to discuss her economic plans and emphasize the importance of early voting in the battleground state. Addressing a largely Black congregation at Koinonia Christian Center, Harris seized the opportunity to criticize former President Donald Trump for spreading false information about the federal response to recent hurricanes.

Although Harris refrained from mentioning Trump by name, she directed her remarks towards those who have propagated misleading claims about the Biden administration's handling of Hurricanes Milton and Helene. Both storms significantly impacted Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Speaking passionately about the efforts of local "heroes" in assisting residents affected by the hurricanes, Harris condemned those spreading disinformation. "There are some who are not acting in the spirit of community, lying about people who are working hard to help those in need," Harris remarked. She warned that such misinformation undermines the trust necessary for effective disaster response and convinces those in need to avoid seeking assistance.

Harris accused her detractors of aiming to gain political advantage at the expense of others. "Playing politics with other people's heartbreak is unconscionable," she asserted. She further emphasized the irresponsibility of inciting fear and isolating the vulnerable during times of crisis.

President Trump recently made false claims about the government's hurricane response, including accusations that aid was being intentionally withheld from Republicans in the Southeast and that FEMA had depleted its resources on programs for undocumented immigrants. He reiterated these claims in an interview on Fox News Channel, describing the storm response as "absolutely terrible."

Harris's appearance in Greenville is part of her broader "Souls to the Polls" effort, encouraging Black churchgoers to participate in early voting ahead of the November 5 election.
