Ukrainian Forces Repel Russian Assault on Chasiv Yar, Destroy Over 20 Armored Vehicles

In a nightly video address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled a Russian assault on the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian forces displayed remarkable resilience, destroying more than 20 armored vehicles belonging to the occupier.
President Zelensky spoke about the historical significance of the day, as Ukraine commemorated the victims of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944. He emphasized that despite the tragic events in Ukraine's history, they will never be distorted or forgotten. The president expressed confidence that the Russian occupation of Crimea and its abuse of power will not go unanswered, as the fight for justice and peace continues.
Reflecting upon the events of 2014 when Crimea was annexed by Russia, President Zelensky emphasized the importance of resistance in deterring further aggression. He highlighted that the Russian evil will not go unchallenged, even on their own territory, thanks to the unwavering determination and bravery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The president expressed his gratitude to the warriors and units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces who diligently defended the country. Their courage and resilience were evident in the successful repulsion of the Russian assault on Chasiv Yar, resulting in the destruction of numerous armored vehicles. President Zelensky commended the soldiers for their outstanding performance in the face of adversity.
While acknowledging the challenges on various fronts, including Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and southern directions, President Zelensky praised the Ukrainian forces for their unwavering resistance against the occupier. He reiterated his appreciation for the efforts of the entire diplomatic team, government officials, embassies, and civil society activists who contribute to the preparation of the upcoming Peace Summit.
President Zelensky also highlighted the progress made in diplomatic relations this week. He engaged in conversations with several Heads of State and Government, including Georgia, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Malawi, Portugal, Slovenia, France, Sweden, and Liberia. Additionally, he held a discussion with the U.S. Secretary of State, emphasizing the collective effort to attain a just peace for Ukraine and hold Russia accountable for its actions.
As the preparations for the Peace Summit continue, President Zelensky expressed confidence in creating a platform that will force Russia towards a peaceful resolution and prevent deception. He expressed gratitude to all those contributing to Ukraine's cause and ensuring the strength and results for the country.
