Officials in Russia's Rostov region have declared a state of emergency in the Morozovsky district following a series of Ukrainian drone attacks overnight into Saturday. The governor of the Rostov region, Vasili Golubev, announced the emergency measures through his Telegram channel, stating that a working group has been dispatched to assess the damage caused by the airborne assault.

One district in the Rostov region experienced a fire in a fuel depot as a result of the drone attack, although no casualties were reported, according to Golubev. The incident prompted increased vigilance and swift action by anti-aircraft defense systems, which managed to shoot down a total of 75 Ukrainian drones across seven regions of Russia. Of these, 36 were intercepted over the Rostov region, which shares a border with Ukraine.

This large-scale assault with unmanned aircraft by Ukraine follows the recent launch of 89 Shahed drones, as reported by Ukraine themselves, against Kyiv and various Ukrainian regions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims that all the drones involved in that attack were successfully neutralized by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses.

The wave of drone attacks and heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine are further amplifying concerns in the region. Both countries have accused each other of provocation and engaging in aggressive acts, further escalating the ongoing conflict.

The aftermath of these recent incidents underscores the need for continued diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and prevent further violence. The international community is closely monitoring the developments and urging restraint to avoid a further deterioration of the already tense relations between Russia and Ukraine.
