However, President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview with NBC News published on April 21, warned that Russia may attempt to capture Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast by May 9. Zelensky's statement was consistent with the concerns raised by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi on April 14, amid a deteriorating situation and dwindling supplies for Ukrainian forces.
