**Trump Nominates Charles Kushner as Ambassador to France**

President-elect Donald Trump revealed on Saturday his decision to nominate New York real estate developer Charles Kushner as the next Ambassador to France. Trump praised Kushner in a social media announcement, lauding him as "a tremendous business leader, philanthropist, & dealmaker."

"Congratulations to Charlie, his wonderful wife Seryl, their 4 children, & 14 grandchildren," Trump wrote. He also highlighted the contributions of Kushner's son, Jared, who collaborated closely with Trump during his presidency, particularly on initiatives such as Operation Warp Speed, Criminal Justice Reform, and the Abraham Accords. Trump expressed confidence that Kushner's appointment would bolster the enduring partnership between the United States and France, which he referred to as "our oldest Ally, & one of our greatest!"

The appointment of U.S. ambassadors requires Senate confirmation. If confirmed, Kushner would succeed Denise Campbell Bauer as the Ambassador to France. The 70-year-old Kushner is the founder of the private real estate firm Kushner Companies and has a background as an attorney.

Kushner's past includes a conviction in 2005 for making illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering. The charges were brought by former New Jersey governor and federal prosecutor Chris Christie, who described them as "one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes" he had ever prosecuted. Kushner served two years in prison before resuming his role in the real estate business. However, in 2020, Trump issued a pardon to Kushner, just a month prior to the conclusion of his first term.

The potential appointment of Charles Kushner signifies another significant choice by Trump as he assembles his team ahead of his presidential term.
