A devastating incident unfolded on the campus of Delaware State University on Sunday, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old woman after being shot, according to authorities. The incident occurred near Warren-Franklin Hall, described as a freshman dorm, in Dover.

In response to a report of shots fired, Dover police rushed to the scene at approximately 1:40 a.m. where they discovered the victim, an 18-year-old woman from Wilmington, with a gunshot wound to her upper body. It was revealed that the young woman was not a registered student at the university. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her family.

Efforts were made to assist the victim, who was expeditiously transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus. Regrettably, she was pronounced dead at the hospital. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
