Tragic Crash on Interstate 93 Claims Two Lives in Methuen

In a devastating incident on Interstate 93 southbound in Methuen, Massachusetts, two individuals lost their lives in a multi-vehicle collision, according to state police. The crash occurred at around 2:10 a.m. near Exit 43, leaving a trail of destruction and prompting a thorough investigation.
According to preliminary findings by state police, a 2020 Toyota RAV4 was traveling in the wrong direction, heading northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 93. The RAV4, operated by a 53-year-old resident of Quincy, collided head-on with a 2021 Toyota Camry. Tragically, the driver of the Camry, a 21-year-old resident of Quincy, was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
Following the initial collision, the Camry came into contact with a third vehicle, however, the driver of that vehicle thankfully escaped unharmed, as reported by the police. The driver of the RAV4 was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was also pronounced dead.
The crash had severe repercussions, leading to the closure of all three lanes of Interstate 93 southbound for approximately three hours. During this time, investigators meticulously examined the scene and worked to recover the vehicles involved in the collision.
The identities of the victims have not been released at this time, as authorities are working to notify their respective families. The investigation into the crash is ongoing as state police seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the driver of the RAV4 traveling in the wrong direction on the highway.
