In a devastating turn of events, the car crash that claimed the life of Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson and two of his friends has taken an even more tragic turn. A deadly shooting unfolded on Friday night, immediately following a candlelight vigil held at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

The remembrance vigil was organized to honor the memory of 24-year-old Jackson, as well as his companions, Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton, Jr., who also lost their lives in the July 6 car accident. All three football stars had attended Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School, making the gathering an emotional tribute to their shared legacy.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred in the parking lot in front of the school, shortly after the peaceful vigil concluded. One victim, a man, was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital, while a woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated.

During a Facebook Live video, Captain Sukhjit Batth, acting commander for the major crimes division of the Prince George's County Police Department, recounted the events surrounding the shooting. He mentioned that the police had initially left the scene once the majority of the crowd had dispersed but were alerted by gunshots and quickly returned.

Citizens at the scene had already begun life-saving measures on the female victim before law enforcement arrived, and police officers promptly administered aid to the male victim. Both were transported to nearby hospitals, but despite the medical team's best efforts, the man could not be saved.

So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, but authorities recovered a firearm at the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances that led to the violence.
