Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager Support Kelly Rowland Amidst Cannes Incident

In a recent episode of "Today with Hoda and Jenna," co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager expressed their support for singer Kelly Rowland following her confrontation with a security guard at the Cannes Film Festival. The incident occurred last week when a viral video captured Rowland pointing at and allegedly yelling at a female security guard while climbing the red carpet stairs.

During their discussion on the show, Kotb expressed her confusion about the security guard's intentions, asking, "What is she protecting them [from]? I don't understand what she's trying to do. Protecting them from what? Or what's she doing?" Bush Hager added that they were unaware of the reasons behind the security guard's actions, labeling them as "weird."

However, both hosts were quick to show their unwavering support for Rowland. Kotb emphasized Rowland's reputation for handling herself with grace and class, stating, "Yes. It felt like people were piling on her, and we know that she handles herself with grace and class always." Bush Hager echoed these sentiments, referring to Rowland as their "girl."

In response to the incident, Rowland addressed the situation in an interview with AP News, asserting, "That woman knows what happened. I know what happened. I have a boundary, and I stand by those boundaries." She further highlighted her belief that other women who attended the event did not face similar treatment.

This show of support from Kotb and Bush Hager comes after Page Six reported that Rowland walked off the "Today" show in February when she was scheduled to co-host with them. Sources at the time claimed that Rowland was dissatisfied with her dressing room. However, Kotb was quick to assure viewers that there was no animosity between them and invited Rowland to co-host the show anytime she desired.

Kotb's remark in a previous episode further emphasized their appreciation for Rowland, stating, "She can share my dressing room. We'll be in it together! But anyway, I just want to say we love her. We've loved her on this show for many, many years."

The incident at Cannes has sparked a discussion about how celebrities, particularly women, are treated differently in various public settings. Despite the controversy, Rowland's fans and supporters continue to rally around her, appreciating her dedication to maintaining personal boundaries and standing up for herself in the face of adversity.
