### Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin Split After Eight Years Together

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have reportedly ended their relationship after an eight-year romance, according to multiple sources. The couple first sparked rumors of their relationship in 2017, three years following Martin's separation from actress Gwyneth Paltrow, with whom Martin shares two children. Despite the high-profile nature of Martin’s previous marriage, his relationship with Johnson remained largely private.

Throughout their time together, Johnson and Martin faced numerous breakup rumors. In August 2024, a representative for Johnson dismissed speculation that the couple had split, confirming they were still together. However, recent reports indicate that their latest breakup seems more definitive.

Johnson and Martin's romance began to catch public attention in October 2017 when they were spotted dining at Sushi Park in Los Angeles. Eyewitnesses noted that they appeared affectionate and comfortable together. The following month, Johnson attended a Coldplay concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina, further fueling relationship rumors.

By January 2018, the couple had been seen on several casual outings in Los Angeles, including a visit to Soho House and a stroll on a Malibu beach. Later that month, they publicly displayed their affection at Stella McCartney's fall 2018 runway show in Los Angeles.

Their relationship continued to grow throughout 2018, with Johnson often spending time at Martin’s Malibu home. Notably, the actress's mother, Melanie Griffith, expressed her approval of the relationship. In November 2018, Johnson briefly addressed their romance in Tatler, saying she was very happy but declined to provide more details.

In June 2019, rumors of a split emerged, citing differences in their future plans, particularly regarding starting a family. Despite the rumors, Martin attended the Los Angeles premiere of Johnson’s movie, “The Peanut Butter Falcon,” in August 2019, indicating they had reconciled.

The couple's families remained supportive, with Griffith calling them an "awesome couple" and Paltrow wishing Johnson a happy 30th birthday on Instagram in October 2019. Johnson joined Martin and his family, including Paltrow and her children, for a holiday trip to Aspen in December 2019.

In February 2020, Coldplay released a music video for "Cry Cry Cry," directed by Johnson, marking her directorial debut. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple quarantined together, as hinted by their friend Olivia Wilde through an Instagram post.

By October 2020, the couple had reportedly moved in together at Martin’s $12.5 million home in Point Dume, Malibu. Although Johnson was initially known for her city lifestyle, she adapted to her new environment.

Despite their seemingly stable relationship, Johnson and Martin's recent split feels conclusive, marking the end of a significant chapter for the long-term couple.
