Three Juveniles Arrested and Charged with the Murder of University of Southern Mississippi Football Player
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – In a tragic incident, Marcus "MJ" Daniels Jr., a talented University of Southern Mississippi (USM) football player, was shot and killed overnight. The Hattiesburg Police Department (HPD) has announced that they have arrested and charged three male suspects, all under the age of 21, in connection with his death.
The three teenagers have each been charged with capital murder, as well as additional charges, related to the killing of Daniels. Their identities have not been released to the public due to their age. HPD has emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing and is urging the community to come forward with any relevant information that might aid the investigation.
Daniels, originally from Lucedale and a standout athlete at George County High School, joined the USM Golden Eagles last year after transferring from the University of Mississippi. His death has shocked and saddened the local community and the university.
The suspects were taken into custody and have been booked into the Forrest County Jail. HPD has not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests and charges in connection with the case.
