In a continuation of the Cowboys' tumultuous offseason, it appears that head coach Mike McCarthy's patience with owner Jerry Jones is wearing thin. According to reports, McCarthy is growing "fed up" with Jones' tendency to undermine his authority.

Sources close to the team indicate that McCarthy is not the only one feeling frustrated. Players are also expressing concerns about Jones and his interference in coaching decisions. This adds to the ongoing reputation of Jones as a highly hands-on owner, which has been a point of contention in the past.

Jones' history of involvement in coaching decisions was a major factor in the rift between him and former head coach Jimmy Johnson back in 1993, following the Cowboys' Super Bowl triumph. Although the Cowboys did win another Super Bowl under Jones' ownership, the departure of Johnson marked a turning point for the franchise.

Interestingly, Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells had a positive experience working with Jones during his tenure with the team from 2003 to 2006. Parcells praised Jones for his support and benevolence, even though the two-time Super Bowl-winning coach had previously left the New England Patriots due to difficulties with their owner, Robert Kraft.

However, despite potential adjustments in his approach to coaching staff, Jones maintains his role as the team's general manager, and his ownership philosophy remains unchanged. The Cowboys' struggles to reach the NFC Championship in over two decades may be attributed, at least in part, to their challenges in managing the salary cap and free agency.

The team has already lost key players like running back Tony Pollard and center Tyler Biadasz in free agency. Additionally, contract negotiations loom for their star trio of quarterback Dak Prescott, receiver CeeDee Lamb, and linebacker Micah Parsons. These ongoing distractions could carry into the upcoming training camp, further adding to the team's instability.

Meanwhile, McCarthy finds himself in an uncertain position. After the Cowboys' surprising defeat to the Green Bay Packers in this year's wild-card playoff game, McCarthy's contract remains unextended. As he enters the 2024 season as a lame-duck coach, questions arise about his future with the team.

At this point, it remains to be seen whether McCarthy will choose to continue coaching in Dallas, provided the team manages to keep their core intact. Ultimately, the fate of McCarthy's tenure may depend on his willingness to work alongside Jones, and whether Jones is ready to trust his coach's decisions.
