In a series of alarming incidents, a suspect accused of multiple stabbings in Massachusetts has been apprehended. Jared Ravizza, 26, is the prime suspect in a string of attacks that took place at a movie theater in Braintree and a McDonald's restaurant in Plymouth. The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office has confirmed that Ravizza is believed to be involved in other stabbing incidents as well, although details about these cases have not been disclosed.
The first attack occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday at an AMC movie theater in Braintree. Without any warning or provocation, Ravizza allegedly launched an unprovoked assault, stabbing four young girls aged between 9 and 17. The victims were rushed to Boston hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Following the attack, the suspect swiftly fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later identified as a black SUV.
Coincidentally, just an hour later, a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were also victims of a stabbing at a McDonald's in Plymouth. Surveillance footage from the restaurant revealed Ravizza arriving in a black Porsche Macan SUV. He can be seen reaching through the drive-through window to stab the male victim before parking the car, entering the establishment, and subsequently attacking the female victim. Authorities have confirmed that both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment.
After the McDonald's incident, state troopers attempted to stop Ravizza's vehicle. However, he evaded capture, leading law enforcement on a pursuit. Ultimately, the chase ended in a crash in the town of Sandwich, resulting in the suspect being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ravizza now faces charges of assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the attack at McDonald's. Furthermore, investigators suspect a probable link between the movie theater incident in Braintree and the stabbings at McDonald's. The Braintree Police Department shared that it "appears as though" these two attacks are related.
Court records indicate that Ravizza had a prior arrest last month on suspicion of assaulting a family member. In that incident, he was also accused of vandalism on Martha's Vineyard. However, the cases are yet to be adjudicated. Reports reveal that Jared Ravizza's father informed the police that his son had experienced a mental breakdown and attacked him, causing significant damage to their home office.
Connecticut State Police have also mentioned a separate case involving a death in Deep River, and a suspect linked to that investigation has been taken into custody in Massachusetts. Authorities from both states haven't confirmed any connection between the Connecticut case and the Massachusetts stabbings.
The investigation into these disturbing incidents remains ongoing, with Massachusetts State Police, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, and the Braintree Police Department working diligently to gather more information. The motive behind the attacks and any potential additional victims are still being determined.
